Journal Tsing's 180 - WIP

Thanks for sharing your build. Really interesting.

Which configuration did you end up with the Gyres? I tried, but can't find them in your more recent photos. Your plants being so tall, don't they get sucked in by the gyres?

I am also using a Gyre. A Maxspect XF330 non-cloud. I have it placed horizontally, pushing water just under the surface from one end to the other. I run it at 20% power using the controller that comes with it. Higher than that, my plants get pushed over too much.

LOL... I never thought anyone would use this. That's my video. :ROFLMAO:
Measuring CO2 flow can be challenging, especially when we're doing 5 bubbles per second or more. Of course there are professional flow measurements, but I have had two ideas how we can do it cheaper, and perhaps even more accurate for our hobby. I did not spend more time building and testing, as I am not really interested in my flow with using overflow mode on the reactor..

I won't post here, as I do not want to derail the thread, but will do later in a separate thread for anyone who likes to follow up and test and develop the idea.

I measure with phone camera. Put on slow motion. 1/8 speed. Then record 5 sec video. And count 40 bubbles divided by 8 = 10bps

Don't know how I missed this but WOW, I love it.

Left and bottom wall cabinets are almost done, idk when Ill start on the right side. The 180 is currently on the right side and will be moved to the top wall eventually and I'll rescape at the time I guess.

Most likely will down size to just the 180 gallon + 60 gallon sump (currently I have a 55 gallon goldfish grow out tank and a spare 20? gallon tank). maybe I'll build a new shorter stand. thinking 28" tall (for easier maintenance) but idk how I'll fit my sump and the diy yugang reactor if I do that. not sure how it'll look since all the other cabinets are currently around 36" high

If youre wondering why there's so many windows, this area used to be a patio in the 90s and eventually got turned into a spare den? / flex room
