So you're killing me with the last picture. I don't know what I like more - the plants (awesome), the glass bubble grow outs or the Python! Probably all of them.

I bought an extra long hose from Menards to make it go all the way to my sink, but its a very flimsy material so I might need to buy actually strong tubing haha. So much for trying to save money

The glass bubble grow outs are nice. A lot of the Xyris is growing out nicely. @Jhardee85 I will add the X. smalliana seeds in here later, too scared of algae haha. However, when I do get the APT Feast aquasoil, I will set up a new tank and submerge the X. smalliana in there. For now, I will grow them emersed to try and get more flowers. Thank you again.

The colors look amazing here. I am really happy for the plants that are going to come in coming December. I am really excited to try sindoor since I have had many people be actually successful with Cryptocoryne Sreepadma Sindoor for once. I have this one friend who has it growing out nicely in a decent high tech (not nothing crazy), which makes me think we can finally get it growing here now.

How many tissue cultures should I bring? Like 30 ? haha.

Heck yeah its certainly a beauty. I am surprised C. sivadasanii isnt that big either, or a few others. I wonder how their tonkenesis looks like too.

I may honestly order more. I will make up my mind tonight. I wanted to order last week but I was waiting on someone else before I finished. But yes, we are good to go on the order tonight. All orders should be shipped out before Christmas if everything goes well.

Zombie thread bump (because I was googling for mature images of this plant). Well this is inspiration for me to keep trying. I am stubborn and I want to grow this crypt. I managed to get two cups of the UNS tissue culture version a couple months ago. Unfortunately they failed to adapt. Think I have one left of those, not really growing but not dying either. What occurred was just poor root zone adaptation. I could tell when I saw a tiny leaf start to grow then melt, and repeat. Eventually the crypts just slowly dissolved.

Fast forward to a couple weeks ago, I grabbed the Sreepadma version. Decided to hedge my bets this round. Put 50% of the cup in my aquarium and 50% in a crypt grow out bin. Hoping between both one takes. If they fail with unlimited co2 and nutrients, I'll honestly be at a loss at how to get these past the tissue culture stage.

I do, my current hardness is 12 dGH and 4 dKH . The water source is well water. Last time I had my well water tested professionally 11 months ago, the Ca to Mg ratio was approx 2.7:1.

Here is a top down image of the UNS sindoor on the bottom right prior to them just stalling. No other crypt in this tank has had issues (and I have a lot of them ):

There used to be a plant reference section, but I can’t find it. I think I had posted a Crypt Sindoor that I had adapted and was going to check the details. Did we get rid of it for lack of participation, or am I just missing it?

The last picture in this link shows one of them. They started in a high tech tank, were melting away and I moved them to a low-tech. They improved and finished converting there. Then I moved one to the “middle energy tank” with about 9 ppm of CO2 24/7 where it also did well. Unfortunately after I took that tank down, I believe it went back into the high tech tank and I either lost it or lost the location of it. I believe tanks it did well in were also around 8 dgH and 3 dkH , if that helps.

The new plant is one of 2 Crypt Sindoor that converted successfully in my low-tech farm tank. I hope it doesn’t melt from being moved, but if it does I’ll still have one left. I don’t know if it’ll get the orange color back now that it has a little extra CO2, but I like the color even if it doesn’t.

Thanks Kwyet that is good info. Looks like our two tanks are darn near close in their set up. My tank is also low tech but using a Chihiros light. Hopefully this second round one sindoor survives. Your converted image looks almost like a different crypt entirely to what was posted above. Curious what factors drive that as the light on that tank in your image appears to be sufficient for plants to keep color.

It was a Chihiros C2 light. I remember that I had it set too high at first and then turned the strength down, but I don’t think I ever actually measured the par. As you can see by the red root floaters, the nitrates were pretty lean. My notes say I was doing pps-pro without nitrates, but had put in a root tab near the crypt.

The reason I ask is I've had a ton of rooting problems too on my well water: pogo helferi and staurogyne repens completely refusing to root and slowly dying away, crypts barely growing, Barclaya green and stunting, plus a terrible time keeping shrimp colonies alive..

Then I had a full UPenn panel well test, showing my dissolved iron levels at 18 times EPA max

Which plays hell with phosphorus availability. Apparently contributing to or even fully causing all of these problems

I finally went to remineralized distilled two weeks ago, and my crypts are taking off like gangbusters Going to do the same in the barclaya tank this weekend

Was it a partial or full test? Anything else interesting in there?

haha didn't realize you also posted here. If you keep bumping into me on other communities you are going to learn my naming sense is lame for usernames and I just use map names from the video game Unreal Tournament.

Full panel. I usually get it done once a year or after a major earthquake (Alaska). Nothing crazy, my well water is ideal for planted tanks. Honestly sindoor is the first crypt giving me issues, though think its just due to it being a tissue culture. If I can get one past that stage, I should be good.

Overall other main categories for my well water: Iron is ~0.2ppm, Nitrates and Phosphates out of the well are not readable. Other common contaminants such as arsenic, lead, Barium, etc also not readable or detectable.
