I am the proud new owner of a pair of Laetacara (probably L.dorsigera). About 2" TL currently. They don't seem to be common in the hobby. Does anyone else have any ? Or experience of keeping them ?
I had a pair of Laetacara (formerly Aequidens) Dorsigera years ago and they were probably the most beautiful fish I've ever kept....almost dark chocoalate brown with a cherry red breast...alas I have no pics
Yours look more like L Curviceps but I could be wrong
Stunning fish. I have 4 Dorsigea and 4 .Araguaiae None have full adult coloration. I would love another tank and to get curviceps. These fish are fun. Dorsigea is the most peaceful cichlid I have ever had more so than my Keyholes. I hope that continues if they mature and I get a pair. They love to have caves they can foray out of. Easy to feed and no real aggression to anything but small shrimp which they will decimate. Don't mind cooler water like 70-74f. My Araguia eat snails which is a bit annoying.
