The first step is admitting you have a problem.
A little bit of organizing and planning today reveals the extent of my affliction. No, I'm not talking about Multiple Tank Syndrome (well, that's a problem too, but most are still empty so it doesn't count), I'm talking about Multiple Filter Syndrome. Of course, all those empty tanks will need filters sometime right? The photo, of course, doesn't include the Oase filters on my active tanks, nor does it include all the empty tanks I have.
Honestly, this is more about research and experimentation to see what direction I want to go, and much of this is based on the great responses and feedback in The Great Big Filter Thread. I'm sure some of the Oase filters will be going up on market place or perhaps to someone here who might want a bargain. The Oase Biomasters haven't been terrible, but I just think I can find something that I don't have to spend as much effort on getting to run quiet as well as something that gets me flow that I have to turn down rather than always wanting a little more.
For the next 75g tank I'm working on, I'll be using one of the Biomaster 850s along with one of the DC return pumps. The "Superjet" clone filter is actually a Week Aqua branded filter. My initial impression of the build quality isn't that great. The controller looks and feels really cheap (it can be controlled via the Week Aqua app though) and the welds of the in/out tubes are rather poor. I'll be using it along with one of the clear prefilters shown. They are basically cheap AliExpress alternatives to the Netlea prefilter; $30 as opposed to $80. We'll see if they are worth it. I'll be using that combination on the 22g long shallow tank shown in the background. The Aquael Ultramax 1500 was intended to immediately replace the Biomaster 600 on my active 49g tank but I've decided to hold off until I re-scape that tank in the coming months. Of course the nano canister filters will be going on the nano tanks I have waiting in the wings.
