When i took the wood out in my main tank (tank 1) (the moss/wood) had a ton of algae. Light was too high while everything else was too high as well. I put apt feast in the space where the wood took up. The feast was soaked in a bucket for 3 weeks changing the bucket water each week. I underestimated the potency of this soil. So daily removal of algae by airline tube of what I could remove as well as topping the water that was lost. I knew i would eventually win the battle just a game of battling the nh4 leech. So once the leech is done I can just redo the whole tank and settle back into my regular routine as well as ponder whether I should go back to my old dosing routine. Here is the steps I did on the redo
remove all plants
wipe algae away from plants
siphon soil (i didn't do this efficiently at all)
add root tabs
arrange plants replant
change water
