Is that Riccia fluitans on the back wall? You’re a brave man if so. I put some that I field collected in my 15 gallon years ago and I still can’t get rid of it. Now I know what all those people bitching about duckweed are talking about.

Yes, that's riccia back there with some hydrocotyle tripartita sprinkled in. The riccia doesn't cause me many headaches in this setup. Little bits collect at the surface in the corners and get removed during maintenance along with other leaf litter. The canopy hides the water line, so you don't see that stuff from normal viewing angles.
Duckweed is far more annoying in my opinion. But the nice thing about both duckweed and riccia is that they float. With a net and some patience, you can remove nearly 100% of either during a single water change. After several weeks in a row of this it is possible to get rid of all of it. I have eradicated and purposely reintroduced riccia multiple times in this tank. I've eradicated duckweed multiple times as well only to have it accidentally reintroduced through new plants.
I don't fear riccia at all in this setup. Duckweed I fear a little. Marimo ball is the one I'd really advise people to steer clear of unless they want that stuff in their tank forever.
