No substantial updates per se, other than a rigorous maintenance routine is paying dividends. Currently needs a wipe down and a small water change but it’s leveling out. More plant mass, as it turns out, makes a huge difference. Imagine that.
Some noteworthy anecdotes include:
Hygrophila balsamica is astounding.
And 3d printers are amazing. A buddy offered to print a few files for me to use up his filament before the printer goes into storage.
Aquaclear 50 flow diffuser. I don’t like the look of a filter hanging off the end of a bookshelf tank so I keep it in the center. It’s fine, except the flow is fairly strong right below the filter wherever it’s at. This diffuser chops it up so my Rotala are permanently impersonating a wacky waving inflatable arm flailing tube man.
Bonus that the panel is easily removable for a quick cleaning.
Some mini plant baskets. Will probably use them for moss or small plant rehabs. Possibly leaf propogation by cutting. There so much room for activities.
And the pièce de résistance, a replica VIV overflow system. For the sump I do not own yet. On the tank I have not decided on. When you need an excuse, make one!
He forgot to print the silencer so I’ll have to rig something up. Inlet is 1” and the outflow is 1/2”. Was going to run it on the waterbox 6 but I’m thinking it’ll have to go on the 60U now. It’s a nice fit though. It’s a pretty slick system, with auto-start after a siphon break via built-in Venturi from the outflow. The glass ones are a work of art, but this was free. Will update with progress with some future rambling.
