Journal My experimental jungle

Dosing more means fat plants. They also grow faster however.....

Algae seems to have gone away.
You must know that inquiring minds want to know more details. :D

What were you dosing? And how much did you raise it? Any idea of water column values?

And also tank is looking great. Healthy colorful plants you can't get much better than that.

I was dosing 0.75-1N from miracle gro. (Very very close to marschners).

Then increased to 2 N

Ca 5
Mg 2

Normally I don't see any TDs rise during the week, but while double dosing I noticed my TDs went up by 5ppm and that my rotala HRA went a dark orange rather than blood red. So I would say that NO3 increased a bit, but I have no concrete numbers.

Still more to go👍 that ammannia pedicellata will grow much bigger under good conditions.

Those are some damn happy plants! So you’re dosing ammonia and urea into the water column from the miracle gro right?
Thanks! Yep, dosing mainly urea I think in collumn with inert substrate. However the erios are in soil, while they do grow in sand, they don't show their best growth without atleast some nutrients in the substrate.

20 species? So, your just starting out?

LOL, j/k - tanks look great.
It's a small tank😉 my next few wish list plants are:
Syngonanthus vichada
Rotala sahyadrica
Bg2011
Rotala ramosior Florida
Erio Goias
Hygro chai
Rotala red cross

I'd love to turn the tank into a more low maintenance, slow growing rare plant tank, but let's face it, that's not happening any time soon....

you know whos got all those rares? WINSTON

I understand. The GSAC isn't a hard-core contest like the IAPLC. It's a friendly and a chance to get feedback from four great experts. Don't worry about perfection, enter it and get the valuable feedback.

Some plants decided to stunt in response to high nutrients....

However I'm very pleased that my buce has recovered and is putting out new clean leaves.

I recon a really strict maintenance regime I what the tank needs now.IMG_20230401_225827.webp
