Hello all, did anyone notice adverse effects on more sensitive plants using calcium sulfate hemihydrate CaSO4.1/2H2O to remineralize RO? It seems to be more aggresive than regular calcium sulfate CaSO4.2H2O. mine don't like it.
What are you noticing?
There really shouldn't be any difference at all. Essentially one has 1/2 less water in it's crystal form. There would really be no difference in effects between 2H2O and 1/2H2O.
Got it from a builder's supplier, cheap stuff. The ingredients said just CaSO4.1/2H2O, but you never know. I do know it dissolves much better than CaSO4.2H20, not leaving that white haze for hours. It is crystal clear after 30 minutes. I wonder if it could burn the leaves.
Have used CaSO4 Anhydrous & Gypsum both at different times as long as the Ca is maintained at whatever level you want to set it to it shouldn't really be an issue
