Has anyone investigated how drop checker design affects its accuracy? I have two DC side by side, both at a pH of 5.5 after CO2 injection. One is visibly yellow and the other is more yellowish-green.

Is the drop checker solution in both DCs the same age? I have noted that some brands of DC solution can fade out a bit as they get older, potentially altering the perceived color. Condensation likely also 'dilutes' the color over time. As for DC design, I would also expect that a DC that holds more volume of a solution, so you are looking through more solution in one versus another, may also affect the perception of color.

The solutions are the same age and are in the same tank. The colours seem to line up well until they hit near yellow tones.
