Emergency Damaged rimless edge, safe or now a terrarium?

Just got this new UNS 45U (~10gallons) earlier this week and set it up a few days ago. While setting it up, I unfortunately smacked one of the pipes against the rim and a sizeable chip broke off of the tank. Funny though the pipe is totally fine.

Is this sort of break a major concern, where I should replace the tank ASAP? Or is this probably fine and not a major risk? I’m hoping that maybe since it’s near the top and in the center of the length (not a corner) that maybe this is fine?

I would think it would be fine. I’m not an engineer though.

I think as long as you keep an eye on it and don't see any spider web/hairline fractures start to spread out from it, you're ok. What I'm sure we all want to know is: what brand of glass pipes are those. Glass pipes are notoriously fragile, so to see one do that to the tank without shattering itself, is astonishing.

Thank you for the info, I will make a note to check it daily with the rest of the tank.

Hah the pipe is actually just the usual JARDLI, specifically the mini intake with skimmer. No clue at all how it didn't break from such a blow, I must have hit it at a good angle for the pipe I guess.



I might double check the pipe when I get home just in case, but I didn't see any breaks on it.
