Anyway I caved in and started the breakdown. Pulled all the native/rare stuff to clean up and keep quarantined until I can get the tank sorted and the Biomaster swapped over. H2O2 bath for now.
Will scoop out most of the substrate and use it for an emersed plant substrate mix. Going to give the classic safe-t-sorb a try this time around.
Bad news bear is here to tell you that charging your safe t sorb is not really a suggestion.
Will be resetting, tilling, and flushing it with tap water to make sure it’s completely saturated.
A more appealing update involves a fresh co2 tank and ditching the Fluval nano. Such a good feeling. The light is an Amazon special from some fleeting no-name brand liquidation, but it’s actually pretty decent. All RGB diodes, Bluetooth control, and a power output of about 30watts. Really nice stand too. Have not spent too much time tweaking the spectrum yet but it’s primarily just for growth. It has a telescoping optical lens to change the beam angle which is actually a pretty cool and useful feature.
I have a handful of impulse-purchased generic brand lights I’m starting to use and have been really impressed with the performance of them.
Like these for example. These pendant lights are 75 watts, Bluetooth controlled, active cooling fans, and have WRGB diodes. Currently running them on 30% and the output is insane. They were about $22 each. Also long gone from Amazon.
It’s actually a kids show called Creature Cases and this scene was comparing different species of snakes to identify features that differentiate them. We’re working in that direction lol.
It looks worse than it is. All the walls are covered with algae and the top layer of substrate is dotted but once I scrape everything, replace the lily pipes, suck the top layer off and deep vacuum the substrate it should be pretty clean.
@HardeeParty What fittings did you end up using to adapt the input to a barbed fitting on your Jebao pump? I just picked up a DCP 3500 and it comes with barbed adapters for the output, but the input appears to be a slip fitting. Did you use pvc cement for the slip fitting on the input? I can't quite tell from the photo. I'm thinking I need to use charlotte pipe reducer coupling into which I can thread a 5/8" barb.
