looked at the chihiros b lighting and hear the app is a turd saying It goes out sometimes and cant get light to turn on without it. people telling me the b models don't grow plants?! I don't even have a phone lol so no apps for me unless its on laptop. have a seaoura 628, 659 and a hygger 999 and old beamslight 30" 6500 light bright as hell over the others more white light. though about going with chihiros b on 29g for more par, the seaoura659 says its 90 par at 18" and the 628 is 50 par at 18" who knows the truth don't have par meter just what I've found online.

anyone using the chihiros b lights?

I have a small B45 over a tank I use to hold plants. It is not the most powerful light I own, but It grows well enough for the time they are in there. My Hygger light is better. The Chihiros app is for all of their equipment, including lights, and it can be glitchy. They had an outage the other day. If your lights have a programmed schedule, and you don't change it, they will still come on when the app/server is down, but you can't make changes until the app or server issues are resolved. My bigger issue with their lights is the Bluetooth controllers on some models are flaky, and sourcing replacement parts for some of their older products can be difficult. You can look around the Chihiros Bulletin Board specifically for the model you are looking at to see if there are any common problems, and to read user feedback. There are also a number of threads regarding their app.
I have two B's - after about a year i replaced hte one on my 40b with an at5 (big price difference); i also have one on a 10 and it is fine; plants grow fine but mind you i'm just growing guppy grass; some crypts and a couple of hybrid echinodorus without too much issue.

The B model is rather simplistic - all you can adjust is on/off (maybe) ramp up and ramp down and intensity - you can't adjust the spectrum or colour.

The hygger 957 (which is hte only hygger i have) is the same you can only adjust intensity but i think it is a bit warmer and maybe a little brighter at 50% then the B at 70% but i haven't formally measure them. Is one better then the other - i'm not sure the hygger was less expensive and more painful to program (it doens't use an ap);

The original wrgb 2 was said to have a flaky blue-tooth module and there was a part that was commonly available that you could buy off aliexpress for not too much but that was several years ago - i've had that light for 5 or 6 years - i hate it but it works and the blue-tooth never flaked out on me like others - the one i had on the 40b did stop working once but i power cycled it and it came back and been fine since but i stopped using it a while ago - first replacing it with the 'b' and now the netlea at5 - would i buy another 'b' - probably not at the price range but if it is still ticking in 5 years and the hygger have died then maybe i would - longevity is always a wild card.

Still the one thing i love about the ai freshwater blade is it mostly remembers the time (minus some small drift) after a power outage - expensive they are but it is a nice features when you have a lot of aquariums and frequent power outages.

So far i'm pretty happy with the netlea but only had it a couple of weeks - and of course it is a different price range.

the hygger is uglier then the chrios b (talking about fixture not light tone) but it is a lot of less expensive - i can take pictures of both of the aquariums if you want to see how they differ - they have differen tplants but same substrate.
